The Art Gallery
KINGSBOROUGH
Community College
Manhattan Beach Brooklyn
Since ancient times cloth was the medium by which story telling was transported through places and time. Much of our vocabulary is derived from the work of sewing, weaving and embroidery. The word "text" derives from the Latin word meaning "something woven" , as in "textile".
Women were the creators of these anonymous works. The women whose work is in this show have taken to this handy work as their medium of choice, and their creations have much to say. Working with thread, wool beads, nuts and bolts, they share their unique views of the world and their outlook on identity through original configurations of familiar materials.
The Gallery is on the beautiful, beachside campus of Kingsborough CC.
Come for the art show and enjoy the beach, Sheepshead Bay, Brighton.
